5 cabinetry ideas to elevate your Laundry design

A well-designed laundry room is vital to ensure your laundry experience is highly efficient and you are not spending more time than needed in there. If you are looking to renovate and dreaming about having a laundry that is equal parts functional and luxurious, then you're in the right place. While the materials and finishes that you select can have a huge impact on both functionality and aesthetics, there are also some small changes that you can make to ensure your laundry feels high end and sophisticated. In this blog post we are exploring 5 things you can do to take your laundry design to the next level:

1 | Integrated ironing board

If you like to iron in the laundry and are sick of having to put it away every time (or sick of bumping into it because you never put it away) then an integrated ironing board may be perfect for you. These fit into a drawer and fold out easily to use. There are some available that also rotate 180 degrees to you can face the way that works best for the layout and/or light within the room.

2 | Integrated drying cupboard

Even if you have a dryer, there are certain things that need to be air dried. If the weather is bad or you don't have a space outside, you'll likely end up drying your clothes inside. To avoid clothes racks cluttering up your spaces, we recommend creating a drying cupboard. Just like it sounds, this is a cupboard with hanging rails or racks inside for drying your clothes out of the way. However, it is vital to ensure that there is sufficient ventilation inside this cupboard to avoid moisture build up.

3 | Integrated LED strips

As we have mentioned many times before, lighting is one of the most important factors in a home. In a laundry, we like to integrate LED strips to the underside of the overhead cabinet/shelf so that the light shines directly onto your benchtop. This creates the perfect task lighting, as your ceiling lights are likely to be behind you and cause shadows onto your working area.

4 | Add a power point inside a cupboard

If you have a stick vacuum, rechargeable power tools and/or batteries, a dust buster or anything else that requires charging, than a power point inside a cupboard in the laundry is perfect to allow you to charge these without cluttering up your bench space. The broom cupboard tends to be the most popular cupboard that we add a power point to because it is so functional!

5 | Elevate the appliances

If bending down to load and unload your washing machine and dryer is painful to your back, then elevating your appliances may be the best option for you. You can add drawers or cupboards below for additional storage, and you may even want to do a pull out shelf to place your basket onto. Please note, however, that some appliances may not be suitable for this. Always check with your supplier first.
