Do you need an interior designer?

Updated: Feb 12

If you are thinking of building or renovating, you will know that there is a lot you need to consider and one of those might be "do I need an interior designer?". If you have an eye for design, the time to research and source things and are confident with the design/building process, then chances are you might be able to do it on your own. However, I always find that bringing in a designer even for just a one off consultation always adds a lot of value to any project. If you are feeling unsure about whether you need the extra help, knowledge and expertise to maximize the potential of your new build or renovation project, then keep reading.

I would recommend to hire a designer if...

...you want to make the most out of your budget.

It may sound counterintuitive to hire a designer to save you money, but that is exactly what we can do when;

  • We will let you know where it is worth to spend and where to save.

  • We design spaces so you get the most out of them and get it right the first time.

  • We design for the future so you don't need to make changes as your family grows.

  • We find and fix issues before it gets to site and becomes expensive to fix.

...you want a second opinion.

Even if you have done this before, have lots of time and are confident about your design, it is never a bad idea to get a second opinion from someone with years of industry experience and knowledge. We have packages designed specifically for this, so that you can bring us in when you really needs us and do the rest yourself!

...you are clueless about what needs to be done before and during your build.

If this is your first build/renovation and you’re not really interested in building, architecture or design, you may be feeling completely overwhelmed. A designer can provide you with plenty of information and knowledge about design, materials/products and construction. This means you don't need to be spending hours researching every little thing and that you can feel more confident with all your decisions.

...you have trouble visualising the new spaces.

If you look at floorplans and samples, but can't put that together to imagine what your room will look like, you will definitely benefit from bringing in a designer. Not only can a designer confirm if your ideas will work together, but can also create 3D rendered drawings so that you can see for yourself if you are happy.

...you aren't sure how you want your new spaces to look.

If you like too many different styles, find Pinterest and Instagram overwhelming or just don't know what you really like - we can help. We know what sort of questions to ask to understand your style better and can use one idea about what you like (or what you don’t like) as a springboard for more ideas. This way, we work with you to narrow down and refine your style, taking the stress out of designing your new home.

...you are basing your entire design on what’s on trend right now.

Anyone can go on Pinterest, Instagram or watch TV shows like The Block and take inspiration from that. However, a lot of the time you may end up with rooms full of trends that either aren't really 'you' or that will date quickly. A designer can work with you to ensure that your spaces really reflect your particular needs and style, so that you can continue to love them for many years!

...you don't have enough time.

There is a lot to do, think about and select when it comes to taking on a build/renovation project, especially if you are designing multiple rooms. Hiring a designer will cut that time down significantly by taking a lot of the researching, and sourcing your hands. We will narrow things down so you only see the best options for each product instead of all the hundreds of available options, and will liaise with suppliers and/or trades to make it all happen.

If that sounds like I'm describing you, then I would recommend that you start looking into potential designers that would be a good fit for you and your project. If you think that we may be the right fit for you, you can get in contact with us using the link below.

Hope you have a wonderful week!
