My thoughts on the Melbourne Home Show

Last weekend was the Melbourne Home Show and after years of saying I wanted to go see what they had, I finally had a chance to go. Unlike other expos that I have been to before, like Decor + Design and Denfair, this one was targeted less at industry professionals and more at home owners taking on renovations. As a result, it had a huge variety of exhibitors, such as modular cabinetry, flooring, windows and doors, tapware, mattresses, massage chairs, furniture, BBQs, window furnishings and more. There was also a whole section for pools and spas, which was quite interesting.

While I am very familiar with a lot of companies and brands in the industry, it was exciting to see a few new interesting suppliers that I hadn't heard of before. One of them was Ascot Bathrooms in Heathmont. They stock a lot of the brands that I already use like Phoenix, Franke and Seima, but my favourite thing is that they also stock a great range of tiles. Another was Barn Light, which had a lovely selection of barn style lights - a very specific product but good to know for any clients that love that look. I also quite liked the furniture from Suave, particularly some of the gorgeous timber dining tables they had on show!

However, the absolute stand out for me was Reconstructed Industries. Not only did I love their gorgeous timber products and flooring, but they have a fantastic and sustainable business mission. Working alongside their sister company (a demolition company), Reconstructed will take all of the timber from old houses and recycle it 100% to create new timber products. Not only does this stop material from going to landfill and saves forests, but it creates beautiful and unique products and flooring. I definitely recommend checking them out if you're after gorgeous sustainable timber products!

Overall, it was great to finally visit the Home Show, meet some new people and do something different. I love going to expos and keeping up to date with new suppliers and products, so if you would like me to share my thoughts on other shows let us know!
