My top 3 favourite trends of 2021 to continue into 2022

Updated: Jan 10, 2023

2021 may be gone, but there are a lot of trends from the year that I am still loving. With the global pandemic and so many lockdowns, it's not a surprise that we saw a huge need to create more relaxing spaces within the home with calming tones, soft forms and nature-infused pieces and colours. Although trends tend to come and go, these are my top 3 trends of 2021 that I'm excited to continue into 2022:

1 | Bolder Colour

In 2021, I was pleasantly surprised by how many more clients were happy to use colour, particularly in tiles and joinery. I had been seeing a trend towards lot more colour for quite some time but I wasn't sure how well that would translate into what clients wanted for their homes. I particularly saw a lot more interest in dark blues and soft greens, which I have really loved playing around with! I'm excited to see what how colour continues to become a part of people's homes in 2022.

2 | Warmer Earthy Tones

I have also loved seeing a trend towards natural earthy tones and a lot more texture. Cool greys were replaced by warm greys, beiges and browns that gave a sense of calm and brought the outdoors in. These neutral comforting tones make a lot of sense given how much time we have all spent at home over the past 2 years, and I don't think they are going anywhere!

3 | Curves, arches and scallops

Curves and arches started to become very popular in 2020 and they definitely did not go away in 2021. This appeared everywhere from furniture, joinery and architectural details and I really don't think that is going to change in 2022 either! Curves, arches and scallops work beautifully to soften spaces, tying in perfectly with the trend of warmer neutral tones to create pockets of heaven within the home.

I'm very excited to see if all of these trends continue into 2022 and what new trends start to emerge. If you are looking to embark on your own new build or renovation project in 2022 and would like to get in touch with us, you can do so by filling out the client contact questionnaire below,

Have a wonderful week!
