CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

"A major renovation was always high on my ‘not to do’ list. So when I found myself unintentionally facing one I knew I needed help. In Nina I found someone who could listen to our ideas and concerns. An excellent communicator, Nina was always enthusiastic and diplomatic. She helped us reimagine our house while respecting its heritage and incorporating little quirks that make it truly ours. Thank you, Nina."

- Hope, Beaumaris Client

Working alongside Elements of Home, this 2-bedroom home was able to be transformed with minimal structural changes to suit the needs of our clients. The original home, which featured dark floor tiles, wallpapered walls and square pink tiles to the bathroom, felt quite dark and cramped. It was therefore important that the new spaces would instead feel bright and light. However, we also wanted to ensure that the design paid homage to the original home and would suit the client's collection of vintage furniture. The renovated spaces therefore feature small nods to the original home in the cabinetry design and selection of handles, as well as the choice of tiles.

While we opted for a more neutral tone, the bathroom is tiled throughout with 100x100 square tiles by Perini Tiles. These tiles have a lovely handmade appearance and a slight variation which creates a really striking look. The grid-like pattern of the tiles was then softened through the use of rounded forms in the fittings and fixtures.  The darker tile on the floor was also wrapped around the bottom of all walls as a small detail which also helps to give the illusion that the spaces are larger.

The original dark tiles and carpet throughout the main living areas were replaced with Woodcut's Smoked Oak engineered floorboard, which adds warmth and texture to the bright painted spaces. For the cabinetry, we selected Laminex's Sarsen Grey, which we paired with Caesarstone Alpine Mist benchtops. The Kitchen and Laundry also have a stone upstand in the matching Alpine Mist.
