5 cabinetry ideas to elevate your kitchen design

If you are looking to renovate and dreaming about having a kitchen that is equal parts functional and luxurious, then you're in the right place. While the materials and finishes that you select can have a huge impact on both functionality and aesthetics, there are also some small changes that you can make to ensure your kitchen feels high end and sophisticated. In this blog post we are exploring 5 things you can do to take your kitchen design to the next level:

1 | Integrated appliances

Nothing says luxury like having integrated appliances in your kitchen. Whether you have a small or large kitchen, integrating your appliances will not only elevate the look of your kitchen but will also make the space feel less cluttered. It's important to mention that only appliances made for integration can be integrated, you cannot take a freestanding appliance and ask your cabinet maker to make it integrated.

2 | Maximise height

If you have standard 2400mm high ceilings, we recommend taking your cabinetry all the way to the ceiling with a small shadow line at the top. Not only will this increase the amount of storage available, but it will make the ceilings feel higher and the space feel grander. If you have high ceilings already, consider taking the kitchen to 2400 - 2700mm high. It's important to check with your cabinet maker the sizes of panels available in your chosen finish, as you may not be able to get end panels in 2700mm height.

3 | Storage mechanisms

This is something we have discussed many times, but nothing beats smart storage solutions for creating a functional and elevated kitchen. Storage solutions we always use include pull out bins, pull out corner mechanisms, and pull-out spice/oils cupboards. If you'd like to read more about this, we have a blog post with our top 5 Kitchen solutions and mechanisms - click on the link below to read.

4 | Walk-in or butler's pantry door

If you have a walk-in pantry or butler's pantry, consider designing the kitchen so that the door into the pantry is a cabinetry door that blends in seamlessly with your kitchen joinery. This will take a little bit more consideration and will not work for all layouts, but if possible, it will make your kitchen feel so much more luxurious and high end.

5 | LED Strips

LED strips not only create a more functional working space, but can also enhance the look of the kitchen. We recommend adding LED strips to the underside of your overhead cabinets to provide you with direct task lighting onto your benchtops. Another place where LED strips are a must, is inside your appliance cupboards and home bar nooks. Lastly, if you want to make your island more of a focal point, adding an LED strip to the underside of the overhang seating area is a great way to do this.
