If your bathroom is also your me time sanctuary, then there may be things you would like to add to make the experience even more relaxing and self-indulgent. Below I have noted some of my favourite ways to create a truly spa-like experience for my clients in their bathrooms,
1 | Underfloor heating
Nothing says comfort like walking onto warm bathroom tiles on a cold morning. Heat lamps can of course do the trick to help you stay warm, but underfloor heating feels so much more luxurious! There are also options for inside the shower if you have a tiled base, which can help with drying the shower area and reducing mold.
2 | Freestanding bath
If you love taking baths, nothing can beat a large freestanding bath tub to create a luxurious experience! Add a niche or ledge close by so you can reach all your wind down essentials, and don't forget to position the tap at the feet of the tub so there's no chance of hitting it getting out. If you can, I love putting baths near windows so you can enjoy some natural light and hopefully also some lovely garden views.
3 | Mood lighting
If you're after a real spa-like experience, consider adding some mood lighting to help you relax. This can be a beautiful wall light near the bath or integrated LED strips. Some of the places I like to put LED strips is the bottom of vanities and shaving cabinets, around the back of round mirrors, and to the inside of bath niches. To take it up another notch, consider adding a sensor so these lights turn on when you walk in (also great for using the bathroom in the middle of the night!).
4 | Natural light
Natural light makes such a huge difference to any space and the bathroom is no exception. Large windows are fantastic to bring in natural light and views of greenery, but you can also consider adding a skylight over the shower or bath for some additional natural light.
5 | Sauna
If you have the space and budget, adding a sauna to your bathroom can be an amazing way to take the space to the next level. Not only can saunas be a relaxing way to wind down, but they can also have many health benefits.
