The design of this home started with an extension by Rob from Elements on Home. The proposed design doubled the size of the original house, allowing for a comfortable and practical family home. With a few of the heritage features remaining in the front rooms, it was important to include nods to them throughout the new design. We did this through the more traditional style shaker joinery, the feature doors to the rumpus and the decorative skirting boards throughout. This was then paired with more modern colours, materials and fixtures to create a cohesive home that seamlessly blends classic and contemporary features.

Our clients were excited to create spaces that reflected their personal styles and were not afraid to use colour to do so. A navy blue was selected as the feature throughout the extension - in the kitchen joinery, fireplace wall, powder room basin and laundry joinery. Soft greens were also chosen for the Master Bedroom feature wall and the Ensuite vanity wall tiles to help create a relaxing sanctuary for our clients. While the rest of the finishes and fixtures were kept quite neutral, we selected light soft tones that helped to make the spaces feel bright and airy. Soft rounded forms were also used through the home to enhance this, in the shape of the island bench, the cove paneling, the arched mirrors and the selected fixtures.

The end result is a well thought-out and functional home that is designed to be able to adapt to our client's needs as their family grows, so they can enjoy this home for many many years to come.
