Powder Room ideas to wow your guests

The powder room is the perfect place to go bold as it's a small space that all of your guests will use. In addition, unlike a main bathroom or ensuite, a powder room usually doesn't have a high focus on practicality and function. This allows you to add in bold choices you normally wouldn't make for a main bathroom, or for any main area like a kitchen or lounge. In this post, we'll explore five key elements that can transform your powder room into a captivating oasis for your visitors.

1 | Wallpaper

Wallpaper is a fantastic way to add a wow factor through colour and pattern. Wallpaper is available in a wide range of options from delicate florals to striking geometrics, so there will always be an option to suit everyone. However, pay attention to scale when selecting your pattern. Oversized patterns can be fun and bold, but may not work for a really small powder room.

2 | Bold paint

Whether you are considering bright sunny colours or dark moody tones, bold colours are perfect for a small space like a powder room. You can paint one wall as a feature or go all out by painting the whole room. To feel like you are transported into another world, you can even paint everything including ceilings, trims and doors!

3 | Fun tiles

Most powder rooms will have at least the floors and vanity wall tiled, so why not choose something fun. This could be a splash of colour, a tile with a fun shape or a tile with a patterned print on it - or even all three in one tile.

4 | Natural Stone

Nothing says 'wow' like a gorgeous natural stone. The powder room could be the perfect place to put that natural stone you loved with a striking pattern or bold colour that feels too much for a kitchen or main bathroom. You could add this into the powder room just on the vanity as a benchtop with a large apron front to truly feature the stone, or you could choose to clad the floors and/or some walls in the stone as well.

5 | Lighting

No matter which of the above options you go with, lighting can make a huge impact in the space. If your powder room is not used for applying make up, showering or shaving, then you might not need bright overhead lights for this room. Consider using fun wall sconces, an oversized pendant and/or LED strips instead to set the right mood.
