5 rooms where you can add recessed LED strips

As we have mentioned many times before, lighting is one of the most important factors in a home. Not only does light affect the functionality of each room but lighting can also change the way you feel within the space. One of the types of lights that we love to add is recessed LED strips within joinery. They are highly effective and a very affordable way to add light exactly where you need it. In this blog post, we are exploring the different areas and ways in which we use LED strips to enhance the home.

1 | Kitchens, Pantries and Laundries

Overhead cupboards are the number one place where we will always add LED strips. We integrate these to the underside of the cabinet so that the light shines directly onto your benchtop. This creates the perfect task lighting, as your ceiling lights are likely to be behind you and cause shadows onto your working area. If you have an appliance cupboard or home bar, you will also want to add LED strips for task lighting within these areas.

2 | Bathroom

Bathroom is another place where it is very popular to add LED strips. There are multiple places that could benefit from additional light in a bathroom, our favourites are:

  • Underside of your shaving cabinet - helps to remove any shadows from below when shaving or applying make up

  • Underside of vanity - this one is great with a sensor to use as a night light for those using the bathroom in the middle of the night

  • Inside a niche - I particularly love this for niches behind the bathtub as you can use this a lovely soft mood light while having a relaxing bath

3 | Home office

LED strips can make for the perfect task lighting for your home office. We recommend adding either overhead cupboards or shelving above your desk, to which you can recess the LED strip on the underside. If having open shelving, you can also add these to the underside of all your shelves to illuminate your books and decor for a bit of a wow factor.

4 | Robe

There's nothing worse than trying to get ready in a rush and not being able to see your clothes properly. Robes are often shadowed as the room light is not in the right location to see your clothes. That is why we recommend adding an LED strip within your robe, particularly within the hanging area, to help you see your clothes clearer.

5 | Lounge room

Similar to the point in the home office, LED strips can be used to add a wow factor to any open shelves and TV units. Another benefit of this is that you can use these lights for soft mood lighting in the evening when you are winding down and want some light but the bright ceiling lights are too much. If you want to take it a step further, consider adding LED strips behind your TV (especially ones that adjust to the colours on the TV) to create an immersive viewing experience.
